Family Beach Bungalow

One of our favorite family gathering spots is our sweet little beach bungalow at the Jersey Shore. As charming as it is now, it didn’t start out that way. Take a peek, it was a hot mess.

Recipe for our bungalow; paint everything white, stock kitchen cabinets, crisp blue counter tops and rugs, tile kitchen & bathroom floors, install fans and buy a lot of stuff.

The design goals were clear, create a fresh simple design on a dime. With twelve family members coming and going at any given time the priorities quickly became organization, storage and of course FUN!

the before and after is great…what a difference, the white really makes it seem so much more spacious

Great post, kind of a curve ball because everything else I usually see is super modern, granite counters, stainless steel, trendy paint colors, etc. This applies to families or individuals who are looking for ideas on a budget and who aren’t necessarily going for top of the line stuff but something that is durable while still being comfortable and fun. I love before and afters, I read a great blog called better after if you’re interested in taking a peek! Maybe mention a bit about the theme/colors being nautical, which seems to still be a popular trend.

I will definitely take a peek at that blog, design on a dime is challenging but can be fun as well.

Love the crisp white airy beachy feel you created.
I love the combination of the fixture in the kitchen with the
accent pottery on the stove an up above. Great touch.

Bedrooms are so much fun to decorate. I like to start by selecting the bedspread or an inspirational piece. Then pull out the accent colors from there. Good Luck!

Amazing transformation, although I am not surprised. My house should be posted on here, especially with what you did with helping us with wall colors and flooring, oh, and the great closet suggestions, oh and the placing of our bedroom furniture! Your ideas always work out great, easy to trust you and follow your suggestions!!

The white color scheme makes the house look so fresh and open. Perfect for enjoying the ocean air. Did you buy the shell vase or make it? Thanks!

The white paint made a world of difference. It was actually a flea market find.
