New York City is alive with the buzz and excitement of Fashion Week.The fashion industry’s top designer’s and the celebrities that wear their creations are flocking to Lincoln Center for the Mercedes Benz Fall Fashion Week taking place, September 5-13, 2012. It consists of a week long series of runway shows featuring over 70 designers that will premier their collections for Spring 2013. Check out the official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week site for the dish.
Fashion Week has been held at Lincoln Center since September 2010, previously, it took place in Bryant Park in tents. This larger space allows for plenty of venues for the shows and attendees. Fashion Week has gone hi-tech with its very own app (Fashion Radar) and bar codes instead of hard copy invitations. You can mingle with Fashion Week designers and fashion icons during Fashion Week and score some great bargains at Fashion’s Night Out, September 6, 2012. Hundreds of New York City retailers will host events and sales featuring free stuff, hot deals, and celebrity sightings.
Each day this week I will feature one of my favorite designer picks, just a little Fashion Week fun. Featured above is the fabulous Dennis Basso who has long been considered one of America’s premiere celebrity designers, known for his exquisite silhouette.
During Fashion Week, Manhattan’s stores stay open until early in the morning, as shoppers search for the hot new designs. In addition to extended hours, some stores offer free cocktails, world class DJs, and incredible giveaways. I personally think Fashion’s Night Out is a great way to get in the mix when you don’t have a runway ticket. New York Fashion Week tickets and VIP parties are invitation-only. The best way to get access to VIP events is to work in the fashion industry or know someone who does, who will include you as a guest. If you are a fashionista, what are you waiting for? Hop on that train (easy for me to say, I’m only 30 minutes away).
