Loft Love:Madrid

I am designing an apartment in New York City currently where my clients are asking for a warm contemporary feel. This presents an interesting challenge because contemporary design is often viewed as cold. I found this loft in Madrid and thought it was prefect for this weeks House Tour. The style represents the clean lines of classic contemporary design coupled with various textures and color to bring in warmth.

The exposed brick adds warmth and texture while contemporary chairs in a fabulous teal color bring a sleek element to the space. A loft offers the chance to define your space in a way that is truly functional for your lifestyle, how much fun that you get to decide where your rooms will be located.

I am crazy for this steel and glass wall separating the kitchen from the living room. There are so many different options you can use to define spaces in a loft; as I mentioned in my Friday Find recently I am searching for a vintage sign to divide a space in the loft for my clients. Lofts give you the opportunity to really be creative and think out of the box.

Classic Eames chairs and the vivid pop of red complement the exposed brick with a lovely traditional mirror. Below, a traditional claw foot tub in a modern setting adds some character.

The bedroom easily offers the opportunity to add texture with bedding and window treatments for a touch of softness in this modern setting. I hope you have enjoyed this Madrid Loft and invite you to visit the other fabulous properties we have featured in House Tour, abroad and in our own backyard.

Thanks Brenda, I love that room as well. I can’t wait to get into my favorite NYC spots next week to shop being stuck in with the hurricane aftermath.
