Home Sweet Christmas

The house is finally quiet after an evening filled with trimming the tree and unpacking the twenty something boxes of holiday decorations I insist on bringing out each year. I absolutely love Christmas and the traditions we keep, and look forward to sharing our collections and decorations with you in a few days once they are all up. Decorating for several different clients at Christmas I have the opportunity to bring many different visions of Christmas to life, for today a sweet simple side of Christmas. Vintage skates on a fresh spruce wreath sets the mood for welcomed guests.

A darling tree in a basket or crate creates a warm, winter cottage feel. Add presents at the base for an extra bit of holiday bliss, practical and inviting. .

The mantle is the perfect place for some Christmas cheer. Simply stated above, joy and peace. When a fireplace is not functional stacked wood brings a fun element of style and texture.

Table-scapes can truly create the atmosphere in the room. Collections or figures you may already own mixed in with organic elements like pine cones and holly leaves build the look. Don’t be afraid to add some sparkle to a casual setting with a touch of silver or gold.

Above, collections of miniature vintage houses are some of my favorite items to decorate with, use pottery or wooden blocks to create varied heights for interest. On top of an existing cupboard with fresh garland is the perfect spot for this sweet holiday village.

Garland draped loosely gives a more casual feel with simple bows and a hint of Tiffany blue for a festive twist. So there you have it; a sweet simple side of Christmas made easy, hope you are inspired to share the holiday bliss.
