I can’t believe tomorrow is New Years Eve! Today I am taking some time to finalize the plans for the big night. Watching the ball drop in Time Square is a given and this year my brothers band is playing out so we will be there and then the after party! On the list; decor with bling, fabulous appetizers, a champagne display and something fabulous to wear.
I personally love the kitchy hats and and noise makers so these are a must. I also love the shimmer of candles and seeing 2013 spelled out adds to the excitement. I found this fabulous DIY at See Vanessa Craft and couldn’t resist, it was just what my mantel needed. We found all the supplies at Micheal’s Craft Store. From start to finish this DIY took us thirty minutes and we were moving pretty slow, LOL. I also made a set for a hostess gift.
Now that the house is feeling ready before I move on to the menu, what to wear? I love sequins for New Years Eve and this dress looks like a walking party, perfect.
I love a festive display of champagne on New years Eve, looks like an instant party.
Now on to the part we all adore, the food. We are having dinner out so the after party needs some appetizers and sweets. My husband works for an international cheese company so brie is a must and President Cheese is the very best. This prosciutto wrapped brie with figs is always a hit, recipe here. Stuffed mushrooms with pecans provide a touch of comfort food, recipe here. And a fabulous shrimp recipe, Shrimp Mojo de Ajo.
I find after dinner, cocktails, after party food and champagne there is not much room for dessert. I like to keep things simple and this year I chose a scrumptious carrot cake cupcake with maple cream cheese frosting, recipe here. The recipe is from my friend Dawn at The Kitchen of Mama Harris. My family loves fresh fruit and this serving idea of fruit in the champagne flute is just perfect for the occasion. I hope some of these ideas inspire you to add some festive bling and yum to your New Years Eve celebration!
