The Petit Chateau: Courchevel, French Alps

House Tour is one of my favorite categories on the blog. Interior design and travel are two of my passions so this weeks tour from HomeDSGN (read more here) hits the spot on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We are traveling to the French Alps today to tour a chalet in Courchevel. It is located in the commune of Saint-Bon-Tarentaise in the French Alps and is a part of Les Trois Vallées, the largest linked ski area in the world.

Le Petit Chateau is anything but petite it consists of seven bedrooms, two master bedroom suites, an indoor pool, and spa features such a massage and steam room. Just perfect for when you return from a long day of skiing.

A soothing palette was used throughout the home with comfortable furnishings and touches of luxury. I just adore the ceiling beams in black; I can honestly say I have never been able to convince a client to go for it but wow it looks spectacular. A double sided fireplace centrally located allows the public spaces to all benefit from the visual warmth it provides.

Drum lights in stainless, cozy upholstered dining chairs and simple window treatments add to the ambiance. The choice of using solid fabrics allows the beauty and texture of the exposed wood to shine. Below, all of the bedrooms boast the character and warmth of a classic ski lodge some with balconies.

Most bedrooms have a lighter wall tone but this one below pulls in the tone from the upholstered headboard for some monochromatic bliss. Luxury bedding is a must after a day on the slopes, Linen Cupboard has some nice options. Touches of silver add some sparkle to the warmth of the wood. Throughout the entire home the lighting design is spectacular with an even light level achieved through recessed fixtures, wall mounted fixtures and decorative lamps. En-suites were designed with the latest fixtures, natural stone and reclaimed lumber. Rooms for the younger part of your clan are designed with custom bunk bed nooks and room to play.

Now on to the most fabulous area of this chalet, the recreation and spa level. Designed to meet every need you may have to get in shape, relax your muscles and pamper yourself from fitness to massage. Come on in, I can just imagine how wonderful the Jacuzzi would feel right now.

I love all the warm wood and white, it doesn’t distract from the beautiful surroundings! It feels very French, just lovely.
