I don’t know about you but I am just about ready for a vacation and a coastal retreat would be lovely. Today our House Tour is a fabulous summer cottage by the talented Kristin Peake, a custom designed shingle-style home built with all the gracious architectural character of days gone .
The home has a consistent color scheme that flows from room to room giving a sense of movement and calm throughout. Pastel hues of blue and green with touches of sandy warm beige tones and crisp white. The medium tone cherry wood floors also contribute to the flow and harmonious feel of this fabulous open plan design.
Beautiful wainscoting trimmed in a natural wood brings in a touch of nature against the creamy white. Below the bedrooms and bathroom combine the same concept of natural coastal inspiration with pastel hues.
A second living room upstairs provides options for a large group to spread out. The sectional is the perfect choice for this area because it helps define the space. I love love the simple and symmetrical wall gallery of sea creatures. I also like the break in paint color. A popular question regarding paint is where to stop and start colors. This is a perfect example of how, even in an open concept, you can infuse color.
