Georgian Style: Giannetti Home

Today our House Tour is a classic Georgian Style home designed by Giannetti Home. I am consistently inspired by their work and philosophy,” We believe in homes with emotion, the power of natural light, in a modern sense of space, in a simple palette of materials and the power of antiques to convey history, that classical proportions hold the key to beauty and that a little romance is a good thing”, Gianetti Home. As I finish packing for my trip to Ireland I am going to let this beautiful home speak for itself in all of its splendor. Read more

“The Way Life Should Be” : Boothbay, Maine

Maine is truly one of my favorite places in the world, I have been vacationing there for nineteen years and I love it more each season we return. When we were newlyweds we would stay in quaint Bed and Breakfasts, traveling up the coast from Boothbay to Bar Harbor each summer. Once we started having kids we realized renting on a lake was the way to go with day trips to our favorite spots and returning to the serenity of a beautiful lake at the end of the day. Pictured above, Boothbay Harbor. Read more

Her design aesthetic derives from French, Swedish and Belgium design which I just adore. Join me today for a tour of Desireé’s rustic cottage which looks like a country home located in the French countryside but it is actually located in Utah. Read more

Farmhouse Meets Modern

Working on several homes on the coast currently the trend has been “white” everything from kitchens to walls to moldings. I have the pleasure of working with clients originally from Vermont that asked for natural wood in the kitchen and warm finishes that do not feel heavy, it is very exciting to create something that feels warm and organic. Looking for inspiration I found the architectural firm of Hutker Architects on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, their philosophy “We use honest, simple materials to create homes worthy of preservation.” Mark Hutker, AIA. Creating Balance: Wood Finish Cabinets

One of the design dilemmas that consistently comes up is what finish should kitchen cabinets be, white or a wood finish. There are so many factors that can drive the decision; does the kitchen open up into another room, amount of natural light, style of the home, current trends, but the most significant factor is simply, what do you like best? Today our House Tour features a kitchen with a stained wood finish on the cabinets verses the ever popular painted white kitchens that I design so often. Designer Heather Garret brings a fresh perspective to the interiors she creates, from French Modern to Southern Traditional and this renovation demonstrates how a wood finish can seamlessly integrate into a home and still feel light and airy.
